How to Clean a Split Air Conditioner

So you want to know how to clean your split air conditioner or ductless air conditioner? Don’t worry, it’s really easy and simple to do, and it will help improve air quality and cooling, as well as maintain the lifespan of your air conditioner. You’ll need a little bit of water, or you can do this right over your sink, as for detergent or liquid cleaner, that’s up to you.

The first thing you will need to do is remove your filters from your air conditioner. There is usually a latch that will remove the front panel of the air conditioner, and this will give you access to the filters. Now remove your filters, and inspect them under light, in cases of dirty filters, this won’t be necessary, you’ll clearly notice the excessive dirt and dust build up.

Remove what ever dust, and lint you can while still dry, and try to dust it off as much as possible. Remember do this in an open space, as that dust will need to escape.

Once you have done this, we’ll now put the filter under a rinse, and try and clear out remaining dust. This is usually enough to clean a filter, however; for more serious jobs, you can optionally let the filter soak, to allow dirt and grime to separate from the air conditioners filter.
